Building strong partnerships with government is at the heart of how Tumaini Action creates lasting change in our communities. This week, that commitment took a significant step forward.

The Meeting

Tumaini Action CEO David Slaid met with Hon. Grace Osewe, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health, to formally present TumainiAction’s organizational profile and body of work. The meeting was an opportunity to introduce the CECM to the breadth of our programming  from mental health support and addiction recovery to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) initiatives  and to explore how our work can align more closely with county health priorities.

Why This Matters

Community-based organizations like Tumaini Action often work closest to the ground, reaching people in places where formal health systems can be harder to access. But the impact of that work multiplies when it’s connected to structured, county-level support. Formally presenting our profile to the CECM for Health is a foundational step toward exactly that kind of collaboration  one where grassroots insight and county resources move in the same direction.

Looking Ahead: Structured Collaboration

This meeting marks the beginning of a more coordinated partnership between Tumaini Action and the Homa Bay County health leadership. Together, we’re aligning on integrated community health initiatives that address some of the most pressing needs we’ve seen firsthand: mental health, addiction, and SRHR.

For young people and families navigating these challenges, structured collaboration means more consistent access to care, stronger referral pathways, and programming that’s backed by both community trust and institutional support.

Our Commitment

Tumaini Action remains dedicated to working hand in hand with county leadership to build a healthier, more supported community. This meeting with Hon. Grace Osewe is one milestone in that ongoing journey  and we look forward to sharing more as this partnership takes shape.
